On June 9, 2010 - In The Life Media held a cocktail reception, screening and panel discussion on anti-gay legislation in Uganda at the Credit Suisse Clock tower in New York City. The panel was moderated by IGLHRC Executive Director Cary Johnson, and included Rev. Patricia Ackerman from the Unitarian Universalists of the United Nations Office, Pam Chamberlain, Senior Researcher at Political Research Associates and Julius Kaggwa, Executive Director of Support Initiative for People with Atypical Sex Development (SIPD).

In January 2010, Proposition 8 was challenged in California, under grounds that it violated the Federal Constitution. Despite hopes that this landmark trial, led by the legal power-team of Ted Olson and David Boies, might be televised, the Supreme Court made a rare intervention, barring any recording of the proceedings.

A Civil War

In 2006, IN THE LIFE produced this story about an unusual custody battle. All marriages begin with hope for a permanent union, but gay or straight, not all families end up staying together. In "A Civil War," IN THE LIFE looked at one family, now torn apart, with two mothers and two states battling over the future of one little girl. This is a personal story, but also a legal case with broad political and social ramifications for the entire LGBT community.

New York State's Marriage Vote - featuring Senator Diane Savino

December 2nd, 2009 - The New York State Senate voted on a bill that would legalize same-gender marriages and at the same time protect religious institutions who wish to abstain from performing these marriages. The measure failed 24-38, with 8 Democrats and all 30 Republicans voting against. This video looks into the reaction that followed the vote, and asks how we can be better activists in the fight for our civil rights.

Florida Adoption Case

Over 500,000 children in the United States are in foster care. More than 100,000 children await adoption. Despite this growing need, some states currently restrict gay adoption.

 

One such state, Florida, is currently embroiled in a legal battle over the case of Martin Gill, a man who with the help of his partner of more than 8 years, has been raising two children from the Florida foster system. The state's anti-gay adoption laws now threaten to pull this family apart.

In November 2004, ABC News 20/20 aired "The Matthew Shepard Story: Secrets of a Murder" promising stunning new information about the crime using interviews with the convicted killers. The primary focus was on dismantling the widely accepted position that Matthew's murder was a hate crime. IN THE LIFE looks at the sources and the methodology to discover what was missing from 20/20's report.

2009 Season Premiere Gala

On October 15th, 2009, In The Life Media held its Season Premiere Gala, honoring Julian Bond and Patricia Clarkson. The event was a tremendous success, with powerful presentations by each honoree.
